BREEDS:

Any pet pig of any breed or combination thereof may be shown with UPPR™ as long as it is a pet pig (not a breeding animal).

Because of the different breeds we hope to have in our shows, it is impossible to set certain standards for each breed and expect a judge to be conversant with every breed.

Our goal is to judge the pigs on what is important to the pet person, putting function first.

A well balanced pig is a well balanced pig no matter the breed and a functional pig that can be a pet and enjoy what the pet owners expect of them as pets is the most important aspect of judging these pigs.

Disposition is very important in our pets and will carry weight in the judging as will tractability in the ring. Athletic ability along with function, disposition and soundness is the general criteria for a good pet.

The same classes will be available for the pigs registered with other Registries. Any registry will be accepted for the registered pet pig show and all points or legs for that registry will be counted toward a UPPR Champion for members of the United Pet Pig Registry. NCOPP, PPRSI (Old Indiana Registry), and the Buckeye Polo Club for the KuneKune pet pigs.

Pet Pig Performing at a UPPR Show

CLASSES:

Class 1 - Early Junior:
3 months to under 6 months.
Class 2 - Intermediate Junior:
6 months to under 9 months.
Class 3 - Late Junior:
9 months to under 1 year.
Class 4 - Early Senior:
1 year, but under 2 years.
We feel this is the age when they are probably most alike. It was done this way so that they are competing against those close to the same condition, making it more fair for the others that are older.
Class 5 - Intermediate Senior:
2 years, but under 4 years.
Class 6 - Late Senior:
4 years, but under 5 years.
Again a big change at this time of life and we felt it unfair to expect a 5 or 6 year old to compete with the 4 year olds.
Class 7 - Aged Senior:
5 years, but under 6 years.
Class 8 - Intermediate Senior:
6 years, but under 8 years.
Class 9 - Late Aged Senior:
8 years and up.
Class 10 - Big & Beautiful (B&B) Pigs:
200 pounds and over. The pigs must be taped and measured at the shows to qualify for this class.

At this time this class will not be divided into age groups. Winner of this class will automatically move on to final standing with the other classes.

Classes can be divided into males and females, or in the beginning, they may be combined if there are not enough entries for the show.

From the Junior Divisions of the Early Junior, Intermediate Junior, and Late Junior, the winner of each class will be brought back into the ring for Junior Champion and Reserve Junior Champion.

From the Senior Divisions of the Early Senior, Intermediate Senior, and Late Senior, the winner of each class will be brought back into the ring for Senior Champion and Reserve Senior Champion.

From the Aged Senior Divisions of the Aged Senior, Intermediate Aged Senior, and Late Aged Senior, the winner of each class will be brought back into the ring for Aged Senior Champion and Reserved Aged Senior Champion.

From the B&B (Big & Beautiful) the winner will automatically move on to the final standings with the other classes.

The 4 (four) champions: 1 Junior Champion, 1 Senior Champion, 1 Aged Senior Champion, and 1 B&B class will be brought back into the ring to be judged for Best Pet in Show and Reserve Best Pet in Show.

When classes are split by sex, awards will be given to both male and female Best Pet in Show and Reserve Best Pet in Show.

If the show so desires, final winner of the females and final winner of the males will go back in competition for Best Pet in Show and Reserve Best Pet in Show.

THIS HOLDS TRUE ONLY IN BEST PET IN SHOW AND RESERVE BEST PET IN SHOW, NO OTHER CLASSES WILL BE AFFECTED!

Show Rules and Point System were designed by our Judge Chairperson Phyllis Battoe.

POINTS:

It takes 100 points to become a UPPR™ Champion to be earned in the following manner.

The Best Pet In Show (male and female, if classes are split into sex) will have earned 1 hoof equal to 25 points each, providing there are at least two other pigs entered in the division.

Each Reserve Best Pet In Show (male and female, if classes are split into sex) will have earned 1/2 a hoof equal to 12 1/2 points each, providing there are at least two other pigs entered in the division.

Each pig that won Junior Champion, Senior Champion, Aged Senior Champion and the B&B (Big and Beautiful) class will receive 5 points each, providing there are at least two other pigs entered in the division.

Each pig that won Reserve for Junior Champion, Senior Champion, Aged Senior Champion and the B&B class will receive 3 points, providing there are at least two other pigs in the division.

Total points to become a UPPR™ Champion is 100 points to be earned under at least two different judges. Any combination of points that total 100 make the pet pig eligible for its United Pet Pig Registry Championship.

The first and foremost purpose of the United Pet Pig Registry™ show is to provide fun and enjoyment to the owners of the pet pig. Also a chance to learn and talk to other pet pig owners and have a good time in the process.

Our shows will be divided into the following classes for our pets, remember any pet pig is welcomed. We have tried to keep it as simple as possible with as few restrictions as possible for the benefit of the pet pig owners.

We also realize that some pigs will have to be put in approximate age groups if we do not have a birth date.
