Obstacle Course Champion

This class is an open class that anyone may enter, but United Pet Pig Registry Champions are particularly encouraged to participate.

You may complete this Open Obstacle Course Championship class without having the other championship titles thus the open class status.

Show Classes / Show Rules | Champion Classes | Judges
Judging The Pet Pig | Versatility Class | Pictures Of Previous Shows

The Obstacle Course Championship will be earned by successfully completing the course outlined below in a time of (5) five minutes or less.

All elements must be COMPLETED.

To earn the championship title the pet pig must collect (4) four legs meaning that he must successfully complete the course in the allotted time at least (4) four different times.

The obstacles shown here may be put out in any arrangement that the show secretary or judge decides and will not be known until the show starts.

Pet pigs may be shown on a lead or off lead, as you choose, but pet pigs on a lead will be given a (6) six second penalty to be added to their final times to equalize the difference.

NO TREATS are allowed until the judge tells you that you are excused.

The Obstacle course will be judged on:

  • Completion of all elements in a (5) FIVE MINUTE time limit.
  • Accuracy of all elements.
  • Willingness of your pet pig to respond.
  • Control of the handler

All pet pigs successfully completing all elements of the obstacle course in the allotted time will receive a leg toward their Obstacle Course Championship.

First place winner will be determined by best time and most accurate execution of exercises. All pet pigs successfully completing the course will receive a ribbon, but only the first place pig will receive a plaque with a first place ribbon.

Elements Of The Obstacle Course

PLANK WALKING (5 Points):
A six foot long, 12 inch wide plank set four inches off ground level. Your pet pig must walk across the complete plank.

WEAVE (5 Points):
Series of four poles or cones set (5) five feet apart in a straight line. Your pet pig must weave in and out of all four poles or cones.

BLIND CORNER TUNNEL (5 Points):
Tunnel placed so as looking through the open end, it faces either a wall or straw bail with just enough room for your pet pig to exit the tunnel making a sharp right or left turn.

SEESAW OR TEETER TOTTER (5 Points):
Your pet pig must go up one side and down the other.

CURTAIN (5 Points):
Your pet pig must pass through the curtain from one side to the other.

WATER TROUGH (5 Points):
Your pet pig must pass through the water from one side to the other, much like crossing a stream. Your pet pig may go across from any direction short side or long side.

BREAKING TIES AT A SHOW:

Each obstacle will be assigned a number. Each number will be written on an individual piece of paper and put in a hat. In the case of a tie a number will be drawn (by a member of the audience). The pig with the better score on that particular obstacle will win.
